So work is underway at the start of 2025 to refresh my web presence here. It was back in 2010 that I set up this site, so 15 years is pretty good for both the duration of this site and to still be in business as a photographer doing what I love, building new connections…
As we begin to figure out how to move forward and restart economies, we must look beyond a return to ‘normality’. There is a huge opportunity to reshape things as we emerge from this nightmare scenario, and protection of the environment needs to be placed at the forefront of our recovery.
Here’s a selection of a few images taken in the last year. Natural light is what I want to highlight here, the importance of getting the light right to photograph a building and how it’s key in pretty much every photo I take. Photos show an image from a range of projects commissioned during 2019 ranging in scale from a small house extension in Dumfries & Galloway to the ‘Three Graces’ on Liverpools waterfront.
Many of the images in the following slideshow can be seen on the project pages, within the Architecture section of this site. I try to regularly update a show reel of images, however this is a general overview of projects that includes photographs of residential, commercial, and educational building types, from self build projects to…

The book is published in November 2017 and tackles perhaps the most urgent issues facing the UK, – overcoming an invisible divide between poorer and more affluent communities, bringing marginalised and isolated voices into a dialogue for empowerment and change.
There’s nothing like a deadline to get some new work done… and with the opportunity to display a few pieces in this exhibition at the Thistle gallery in Glasgow’s West End, I set out to finish the image below. I had been thinking about this for a while and persevered with the layout until I was happy with it… All…
The Turner Prize exhibition, brings a juggernaut of expectation, debate and ideas to the city’s art scene. An interesting and diverse line up of nominees, this write up focuses on the art of collaborative efforts to animate and confront under utilised and neglected urban space in rebuilding and creating new futures for a place.
I’m delighted to have some artwork prints on display in an exhibition at the New Glasgow Society curated by Kirsty Strang and Johnnie Wales that celebrates the place of the tenement in the past, present and future of the city. I’ve photographed tenements many times, lived in their rooms and walked their streets, and their character…
Lots has been happening since my last addition here and perhaps for more constant updates – take a look at my twitter or flickr posts. Generally I’ve been honing my techniques, process and image editing capabilities with some recent examples of my architecture photography commissions added under the architecture drop down menu
Edge Condition Vol 5 (published January 2015) featured a selection of my Govan images in its placemaking edition. I have been involved with various initiatives in Govan that attempt to reinterpret Govan’s incredible past story, responding to the problems Govan has faced since deindustrialisation, with the loss of its vibrant and soulful raison d’etre. Having met friends and…
