Harper Collins – Glasgow

Harper Collins UK

Opened in March 2025 on World Book Day, Harper Collins new distribution centre and offices provide an incredible 550,00sqft facility built to process up to 3 million books a week at Robroyston, Glasgow. The system relies on state of the art automation with the building employing high efficiency insulation, lighting and cooling systems to integrate environmental measures into the performance of the building.

One of the enjoyable aspects of being an architectural photographer is the variety of building types and interesting locations I get commissions for, this was no exception and once i had done my preparations for the brief to use aerial, internal and external views; it was an eye opener of a project to be involved with, not least for its sheer scale. Wide angle shift lenses became very useful here, and its been fascinating to see an insight into global delivery systems.

“The new archive is also testament to the major role that HarperCollins has had in educating, entertaining and employing people in Scotland over the past two centuries.” – Angus Robertson – Culture Secretary.
