Paisley
Photographs of various sites in Paisley for Renfrewshire Council and Paisley’s bid to be UK City of Culture 2021. (selected for the final shortlist alongside Coventry which won, Sunderland, Swansea and Stoke On Trent) The town has a powerful story, its great architecture emerging from trade, industrial and religious foundations. The brief asked for 15 landmarks to be photographed to highlight the fantastic wealth of grand architecture and heritage assets, as well as hidden gems that urgently needed a new lease of life with refurbishment plans underway. It is great to see buildings such as the Russell Institute with its iconic sculptures brought back to new life and repurposed by Page & Park Architects, as a skills and employability hub. In 2018 I revisited Paisley to take a photography workshop with local participants as part of the Doors Open Day weekend.
